New painting in the works!

September 24th, 2009 -- Posted in New Art Releases | Comments Off

I started a new painting.. Im still on a autumn theme high! I cant help it I love the seasons hehe! Though today it feels like the middle of summer. I had to turn on the AC! My poor ferrets were suffering, not even ten in the morning and I was sweating! Anyway, this time I decided to paint a dragon. It took me some time to decide what I wanted to do, I have so many ideas! My sinister halloween dragon will be clitching a jack-o-lantern. Im excited for this one! Keep checking back for updates!

Crossing off the check list!

September 20th, 2009 -- Posted in Daily Blog | Comments Off

I made a check list of all the things I want to get sorted out for my art related endeavors.  Reading Jessica Galbreths Artist Manual has helped allot, and I’m getting plenty of good ideas and inspiration from it. Starting one step at a time here, and purchasing more as I sell artwork to cover the fees!

  • Clear Shipping Bags
  • Backing Boards
  • Sticker Seals (not a must, would be cool!)
  • Certificate of Authenticity (for original art)
  • Tassels for Bookmarks. (have book mark sleeves-need tassels!)
  • New Business Cards (done!)

Thought this was an awesome perk to add for original artwork. I made up an image and went to Staples to have it printed, and there must have been a damn glitch in saving the file because part of the top words printed white? So that was an waste of a trip.. frustrating to say the least! Next time I’ll come with a bigger list of prints and supplies so I leave successfully with something! Anyway here is a sample below of it.

I’m looking forward to getting my new business cards. It will be something new and updated and it will be nice to have them to give out and send with orders :) My autumn fairy still needs some last minute touches to finish, I didn’t get a chance to pain it this weekend as I wanted, but tomorrow id like to get some work done, if not finish it!

King Richard’s Faire Fun!

September 19th, 2009 -- Posted in Daily Blog | Comments Off

Had a great time at the faire today! it was pretty cool, the whole thing was mostly in a forest. They had all these colorful small house like buildings they were selling goods out of and food.. and apparently these vendors actually slept in the top part of these small cottage/shops during the ren-faire.

They had l of shows but we sort of wandered just waiting for the ones we were mostly interested in. There was the Big Cats show and the jousting. The food was pretty good too! I made sure to take lots of pictures. I was finally glad to go, because since moving to the US from Canada I was told King Richards Faire was the best. Each year we kept saying we’d go, and well it has to be six years at least and finally we went! I made my husband Tom and our friend promise to take me this year.

Tom and me outside the festival, on the way home..eating ice cream!

Avery and me sitting at the jousting show and eating the “kings nuts” they were delicious! (they were roasted almonds with sugar and cinnamon)

Me and our friend Avery

Tom and I looking at some of the Renaissance inspired clothes. They were expensive otherwise I would have bought this top! would have been a saucy wench if I wasn’t wearing my shirt under it!

This is Hercules, he is a liger, a mix between a tiger and a a lion, which makes it a HUGE cat. And we were told that 2009 this cat was official the biggest cat in the world recognized by Guinness book of world records

Jousters! They had four knights they introduced. Naturally we all decided we like the green knight best, cuz he was the evil bad ass one, and we were fortunate enough to be on sir knight Jame’s side of the arena, we were his crowd! Tom, Avery and I had an awesome time working up our side of the crowd. We cheered our knight and got people booing the others XD

progress on new painting

WIP - Autumn fea 2009Hey everyone! thought id post a progress picture of my most recent painting. I haven’t titled it officially yet, Ive just been calling it autumn fea hehe. Shes based on a autumn colored moth, done in nice fall earthy tones. I cant help it! I love this time of year, and so far its shaping up to be a beautiful fall here in CT.

I’m super pleased with how this painting is coming out. By far this is my best human/fairy painting yet! I really think all the designing clothes for Second Life avatars helped me allot in human shape and perspective! Not to mention I have a better idea for how clothes fit and good ideas for dresses :)

Tomorrow I’m going to King Richards Faire in Massachusetts   (rennicance festival) so I don’t think ill be getting much painting in, its an all day event. I wish I had a pretty renn-dress to wear :( all the same it will be fun! I’m mostly excited to see the big cat show and eat the food!

I’m hoping that while I’m there ill get more inspiration for new artwork, and I hoped to take pictures as well, so maybe Ill have something to show when I get back!

Working on new painting

September 17th, 2009 -- Posted in Daily Blog | Comments Off

I started on a new painting, working at my new little studio desk! So far I love my new work space and I think it does help in the creativity department, my muse is expressing itself well.  Its plenty of room for what I need, and I love looking out the window.

I started on a fairy painting, believe it or not! humans were never really my strong point, but id like to improve in that area, and so far this painting is looking very promising, I’m excited to see the final product. It follows the autumn theme as I’m still inspired by the change of season! Stay tuned.. maybe ill post a progress picture.
